...I think it is of primary importance to note that real human beings in social settings are the ones who perform work, and not some '9-point' plan or pre-defined role... In reality, however, this is not the case, and business needs to invest in *humans,* (those engaged in genuine processes), as their primary capital -- and not investment in draconian systems which treat people like commodities. There is much we could discuss along these lines..."

Derek, I think you may be missing the point. Jessie's perceived reference to "titles" (on the periphery of his diagram) should be read as descriptors (signs/signifiers) to an established industry's environment and nomenclature. All it does is provide solid context.
Your second point is true about many corporate environments, but as a case in point, my UX team (presently a squad of three) performs *each and every* aspect of Jessie's diagram. This visual is not only helpful to build structure in an organization or land a gig as a consulting boutique, but for small groups like mine where we *do* wear numerous hats in an UX design process. I'm pretty jaded when it comes to either myself or others explaining the obvious, but Jessie's attempt here touches on many levels of what we (you are practicing, right?) do so passionately for a living.

"Darling Sean, this is a discussion list which is apparently opposed to discussion..."

Haha. You *are* too funny.
If the topic isn't particular to a problem/solution, constructive discussion is what people look for on this list. I've been guilty of falling off track here and there, but Derek, honestly, how often have you offered any critical thinking towards a post or its artifact? And I don't mean critical in the classic sense of literary deconstruction, trying to get at the base of symbolism and meaning. I'm talking about discussing the issue at hand from various perspectives pertinent to the artifact. Jessie's diagram is ripe for that. And this list *would* benefit that type of discussion of pros/cons & additions/subtractions. Why not lead that discourse? Because if you don't feel that that type of constructive criticism is worthwhile, why post?
*No one* here is afraid of *anyone.*
If I didn't have an appointment, which I'm already late to, I'd stay to discuss some more.
