Who feels threatened?
Nuno was just stating something that is true within certain
disciplines, (although "almost never" is pretty strong language!).
Many prestigious, peer-reviewed journals do not offer their content
free on the web. This may be less true with computer science and
other hard sciences, but it is certainly true in many disciplines. To
access that type of content you've got to use services like JSTOR,
EBSCO, etc. (which your university or company pays dearly for) which
serve up content from big publishers like Elsevier, etc.
I would say that, although there are many deep, knowledgeable
articles that can be found through a google search, there are a
greater number that cannot be found (or perhaps the citation can be
found, but not the content).
