If it requires Javascript to be enabled then it doesn't work in all
browsers. This isn't to rule it out, but be wary of that "all browser"
claim.

If a non-javascript solution is a requirement then a very wide <select> may
be the only guaranteed method. Of course you could try to get the best of
both worlds with something like:
