Is there any possibility of setting up some kind of guidelines or bylaws for this list that would allow us as a community to decide to unsubscribe someone who is acting against the best interests of the open communication and knowledge sharing that brings most of us to this list?  I guess this is a question for Dick...

I personally feel that list moderation would be a bad thing, as it would both entail a lot of overhead and might curtail some otherwise interesting but politicial conversations... but  exercizing moderation as a virtue in one's posts would certainly be a good thing, and some kind of regulation to enforce it as a community in extreme cases might be worthwhile.
