[Sigia-l] DVD menu user interface designs

Hello, all:
Our own DVD player is quite a challenge, even after weeks of trying to
discover all the features available on that (petite) remote control.
Major issue? Avoid the need to achieve hand-eye coordination necessary
for a large variety of on-screen menu styles AND on-screen icons that
often show little visible indication of highlighting. (And the
available features change, depending on which DVD we are watching.)
This is where I would start for somebody with special needs, or for
somebody elderly, or for small children.
I would HOPE to be able to purchase a third-party universal remote
with just a few large buttons, much like a very simple VCR remote.
Rewind/reverse, pause/stop, forward, fast forward (and) next
scene/disk.
Hmm, still not that simple eh?
Comments?
