Marketing Specialist / Information Architect & Interactive Designer for the
Banking and Financial Services eMarketing Team

The Information Architect/Interactive Designer is responsible for designing
web interface solutions that fulfill customer and business needs related to
the wamu.com web site.  The architect/designer plays an integral part in the
usability process by creating interface solutions to issues raised during
usability studies.  Solutions should optimize the user experience in light
of technical and business requirements.  Also, the architect/designer works
closely with internal business partners to provide thoughtful and creative
recommendations for site architecture, navigation and other user interface
elements for both early and late stage web projects.   The
architect/designer is also responsible for wamu.com style guide maintenance
and compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
	*	Design solutions to web interface issues uncovered through
customer web site usability research.  Ability to translate customer
research and business goals into interface proposals that optimize both
needs.
	*	Work with graphic design team and web developers to ensure
proposed interface changes meet specifications of style guide, technological
and business needs.
	*	Manage style guide for consumer web sites.  Update style
guide based on user needs as uncovered in usability research.  Maintain
style guide and ensure compliance.
	*	Define and document proposed web site architecture,
navigation, functionality and other web interface changes to assist business
partners with web development efforts.  Documentation may include
flowcharts, diagrams, feature specifications, mock-ups and other relevant
information.
	*	Consult with internal business partners to assess project
needs and present solutions to web architecture, navigation and other
interface design issues.  Provide input into various web projects relating
to these areas.
	*	Build and strengthen business partner relationships.
	*	Develop and deliver presentations to business partners with
respect to progress, deliverables, challenges and other issues impacting
project(s).
	*	Communicate effectively with both business and technical
audiences.
	*	Comfortable working collaboratively, as well as
independently, and have sufficient technical knowledge, leadership and
people skills to be accepted in a leadership role.
	*	Perform heuristic reviews of existing and proposed web
interfaces.
	*	Other projects and responsibilities as required.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
	*	4+ years directly related experience of increasing
responsibility. ("Related" includes: usability research, interactive design,
information architecture).  
	*	Demonstrated experience relating to web interfaces required.

	*	Knowledge of user experience research tools and techniques
(e.g. field research, heuristic reviews, benchmarking, card sorts,
lo-fidelity prototyping methods, etc) and how to translate research into
site architecture and interface design requirements.
	*	Prior experience collecting and synthesizing business
requirements based on customer research and business and technical goals.
	*	Solid experience with Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, MS
PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel and MS Project.
	*	Experience with HTML web site design.  Familiarity with
guidelines and best practices of graphic design.
	*	Strong communication, critical thinking and creative
problem-solving skills required.  

	Ability to demonstrate success in these areas preferred.  
	*	Ability to communicate interface solutions, methods and
approaches, orally and in writing.
	*	Strong writing, verbal and presentation skills.  Strong
techniques and methods for group facilitation and consensus building.
	*	Ability to work independently, in a team, and with or
without direction.
	*	Analytical, detail-oriented and organized.
