Yes the survey is interesting - particularly the post-survey
promotion.

On the front page, AIfIA writes:

"As the following chart demonstrates, the majority of our members
value Building the Practice (sharing tools, research, and best
practices) over Explain the Value (explain importance of IA to
business, government, education, professional groups, etc.) and Focus
on Members (further develop members-only services and benefits)."

(Chart info: Build Practice = 69%, Explain Value = 30%, Member Focus
= 5)

These responses relate to question three, "Which type of intiatives
are most important to you?"

However, when members could rank specific initiatives on a scale of
1-5, Promote IA to business received a whopping 48% of responses as
"Most important" - more top-ranked responses than any other single
initiative.

To me, the message seems to be that Best Practice and IA Tools are
wonderful - but we also have to make sure we have a place to practice
and use these tools. Also, this intriguing response pattern suggests
that AIfIA needs to decide whether they are proponents of Big IA or
Little IA.

Cheers,
