May be Google knew enough about me to avoid preaching to the
converted. :-)
Google's across-the-top sponsor links have an unmistakable look very
different from the search results. Therefore, I prefer that over
Yahoo!'s treatment which, ISTM, tries to blend in with the search
result.

I too had clicked on them and was happy to do so as a kind of support
for the publishers.

Comparing with other forms on ads, they are indeed a good thing.
However, I believe they deserve a distinct look to indicate that their
appearing was due to a vested interest with the publishers. A kind of
unmistakable disclosure. :-)
