Senior Information Architect
Location: New York, NY
Barnes & Noble.com is looking for an information architect to lead the
architecture strategy, planning, and documentation of a new project. This is
roughly a three-month contract position.
Responsibilities
* Develop and communicate high-level vision for product's information
architecture.
* Lead the information architecture phase of the project, creating
documents to communicate with team, including flowcharts, wireframes, and
functional specifications.
* Work closely with business analyst to visually represent user cases and
business rules.
* Research and develop user personas to be used throughout project
development process.
* Advocate user-centered design concepts in all phases of the project.
Experience/Skills
* Must be a strong communicator who is able to present concepts of
his/her own.
* Must be able to work independently, drawing on experience and processes
from previous projects.
* Must have the conviction to consistently create usable interfaces and
the passion to defend them.
* Must have expertise in creating flowcharts for complex systems,
developing detailed wireframes for dynamic sites, and documenting new
structures in a functional specifications document.
* Must have experience working on a web development team with business
analysts, content strategists, designers, and interface developers.
Qualifications
* Candidate must have a Bachelors degree in a relevant field.
* Masters degree is preferred - in Communications, Human-Computer
Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, or related field.
* Must have at least three-four years of experience in information
architecture, interaction design, and usability developing large-scale
sites.
