The AIGA's audience is far larger than just designers. Their membership
and their constituency may be almost exclusively designers, but their
"audience" clearly includes managers too: One of the AIGA's primary
functions is to foster a philosophical and economic climate in which the
capabilities of designers (and information architects) are valued and
used.
Which is the segue into my own plug:
The AIGA has just launched the second online edition of GAIN magazine.
http://gain.aiga.org/
The new online-only magazine has a new focus. Where the old GAIN 1.0
magazine covered "User Experience Design" (as seen in the
previously-distributed link http://gain1.aiga.org/), the new GAIN 2.0
focuses on bridging the design/management divide, featuring articles
about businesses who have "seen the light" of the importance of good
design. The content is excellent, and the site's user interface was
designed by my own humble firm, Behavior. Take a look, I hope you like
it.
