[Sigia-l] Dublin Core and meta-tag length

We do a fair amount of work around metadata standards for Nat'l/state
libraries and governments. What many U.S. State/Federal Agencies
frequently will do is take a metadata standard, like Dublin Core, and
modify it slightly to enhance relevance and to satisfy the needs of
their core user communities.

Should anyone care, my suggestion has always been to support standards
wherever and whenever possible. If necessary, modify...but don't
reinvent the wheel. For years, Standards-Bodies have worked tirelessly
to establish these standards for our benefit. And today, there's a
metadata standard for just about everything. USE THEM!
