[Sigia-l] DHTML Menus and Usability

I see two separate issues here.

(1) DHTML - I've done a few sites using DHTML menus, and (without
exception) they added a considerable amount of time & expense to our
schedule. My mantra has become "DHTML isn't hard to implement, but it's
extremely difficult to implement correctly."

(2) Menus - I think you have to consider whether your audience is
primarily new users (because menus do ramp up the learning curve) or
"power users" (folks who use the site/app regularly, even daily.)

That being said, if I were considering a menu-driven approach, I'd be
tempted to make a case for using Flash MX rather than DHTML.

This despite the fact that my personal site makes extensive use of
DHTML... but then, I'm lucky enough to have access to one of the six
developers in Chicago who really understands Javascript.

Best to all,
