I've been reading this list off and on for a while now, trying to
understand how IA relates to findability and how IA practitioners
think. So far my conclusion is that IA is a lot more than just
findability.

XML.com recently published an introductory article on topic maps by
me, which I think IA practitioners might find interesting, at
  <URL: http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2002/09/11/topicmaps.html >

In my opinion topic maps are a key technology for making information
in large information collections findable, both as a technology for
representing site indexes and as a general methodology for organizing
information.

I'd be very interested to hear this community's reaction both to topic
maps in general and to this article in particular.
