I would say that I've found the same thing. Many users, even those who could
be classified as intermediate or advanced users, fail to think of the logo
as a way to get home. Accepted practices and user adoptions of those
practices don't really mesh with the logo as home link.

Of course my anecdotal findings are not exhaustive, but the prevelance of
this lack of adoption were surprisingly frequent.
