Creating Accessible Websites: Multidisciplinary Perspectives: An open
meeting of the Chicago Web community, Tuesday, October 22, 2002
As a community, we create websites that serve both our clients and
the sites' audiences. (In fact, it is often our job to help educate
our clients about how to best serve their audiences.) Now, more than
ever, creating sites that are accessible to everyone is not only a
good idea, it makes smart business sense -- and it's the law.
In this meeting, we'll explore what it means for a website to be
"accessible," the factors to consider in creating a site that works
for its entire desired audience, and how to create a site that
fulfills both legal and business responsibilites.
We hope this meeting is the first regular gathering of the Chicago
Web community.
