To add another question to the mix, does the indicator also depend upon the
action of the user? For example, does/should the indicator(s) differ if a
user has instigated a search (and sees subesequent findings for that search
through different lenses) versus entering an area, navigating to some kind
of content, and then switching the lense (does the user then see the current
selected content with a different lense?) I guess it depends on how we truly
define a lense...

Not sure if that distinction is clear, but I'm currently struggling with the
tab solution versus 'some other kind of solution' that will adress some
stakeholders' desire to have the second example become a reality. They're
picturing the tabs displaying such behavior; I'm advocating that clicking on
a tab maintains the same, default behavior. Thoughts?
