Quite.

For example, some people think HTML as a standard is limiting. (It is if you
compare it to Mac/Win/Flash UIs.)

Others think it allows you reach several hundred million users, with
remarkably few software distribution hassles.

To claim that HTML (because it is a standard) has hampered creativity is not
seeing the forest for the trees.
