[Sigia-l] drop down menus

could anyone suggest or have experience with some research on drop down
menus as applied to web applications?  i think that usability is not very
high on these widgets, but i could be  wrong and would like some proof to
present. i'm really interested in the usability of nested drop down menus
for navigation ... could anyone point me to some research pro and con.
