To follow the medicine analogy a bit further: 

Would we ever have IA generalists and IA specialists?  Medical family 
practice doctors are experts at triage and common ailments.  They help 
people find the right specialists when they are unable to diagnose or 
treat something.

Are metadata experts the "brain surgeons" of IA?
