Dear all,

The following statement is made in a corporate web usability manual under development:

- To let links open new windows often confuses the user.

A bit down, the statement is repeated as

- Inexperienced users are often confused when links are opened in a new window.

Is there someone who can point to actual research, on real users, concerning this? What kind of users have been subject to investigation - young, old, etc? How recently? (Note: I don't need your general impressions or feelings about this - just the facts, please.)

Mail me directly and I'll summarize to the list.

Best regards

Jonas Söderström
