The official requirements:

Responsibilities: Working with the new architecture of
<http://www.treas.gov>, re-architect additional sections of the site to fit
within the new framework. Participate in content-contributor interviews,
gain a thorough understanding of the content, develop flowcharts and
storyboards, create HTML prototypes, and write documentation.

Required Skills: Visio, HTML (including strong knowledge of best practices
and experience developing for IE and Netscape browsers), experience with
style sheets, and Section 508 expertise (this is critical). Strong verbal
and written communication skills.

----

The rest of the story:

 - You'll work onsite in the Qwest office in Ballston (VA), with occasional
meetings and such at one of the Treasury offices (in DC). It's all
Metro-accessible.

 - You'll have limited supervision; this job needs a professional who's
totally self-motivated.

 - You MUST have experience gathering requirements from non-technical
stakeholders, explaining them to your technically-minded client,
rationalizing the requirements and developing them into
blueprints/prototypes (because we all know that many people only understand
what they've been asking when they SEE it), mediating disputes between
factions, teasing out underlying business processes, and integrating your
work into an existing entity. I know this is a lot to ask, but it's what
will be required to be successful in this gig.

 - You really need to understand the inner workings of good HTML (we spec'd
to the XHTML DTD) and cross-browser/cross-platform CSS. This is not "just an
IA" gig -- they expect someone who can contribute to building it too.

 - It's a Dreamweaver shop; experience with templates is a MUST. Familiarity
with SourceSafe is a plus too.

 - I'm not kidding when I say Section 508 expertise; this site is
chock-full-o complex data tables, non-native content, and popup windows.
Right now it's nearly-perfectly compliant (it was perfect when delivered,
but they've been maintaining it in house ;) and it needs to maintain
compliance throughout the expansion.

 - Send resumes to me at marion.summerville at qwest.com; but just know that I
don't have any input on the business side of things so it's futile to ask me
about rates :)

Marion
