[Sigia-l] Research projects in IA/ID

Hi all

I am working with a company in Sweden who produces
all the information for a big car company. This concernes
user manuals, spare parts information, scheduels for the 
electric system and so forth. As a ph d student in media
and communications focusing on IA/ID I am interested
in methods for making the IA of their products better and
more usable for the users. 

My question to the list is: What kind of research would you
like to see in the area of IA/ID to contribute with new 
knowledge - what has been done and what hasn't been done?

I am aware that this is a huge question so all input is welcome.

As it is now I am considering research on how different ways
of structuring information (i.e linear, hierarchical, network, matris)
effects perception and the recalling (or remembering) of information.

Do you have any thoughts about this?
