One possibility might be to look at new navigation tricks if you have 
well-described data.  The InfoLab at the University of Chicago had a 
nice restaurant finder that allowed you to change one axis of a 
selection at a time -- you couild find a similar restaurant to the one 
you were looking at, except cheaper, or closer, or with a different cuisine.
