The current article (title above, accessible at this link) is on
Information Architecture. I usually love Juan's articles and this one is
no different.
I think on boxes and arrows I was arguing that Visual Design and IA need
to partner better and that IAs shouldn't stray from stepping on VD's
toes. Well my real point which I'm inspired to by reading this, is that
IA's and VD's are in partnership together and that VD's have the skills
necessary to create information architecture w/o navigation, while we
are the navigation experts and the interactin experts.
I really think we all need to go back and read Richard Saul Wurman again
and think about this issue. I also feel that Nathan Shredoff is right
on, if you look at Experience Design as the combination of organization,
navigation and visualization (I'll add interaction). The teamwork
necessary is just paramount to our success or failure.
