[Sigia-l] Designer recommendations?

Hi,

A friend in Richmond asked me for recommendations of designers/design 
firms to help them redesign an intranet. Hmmm...I thought of my old 
company IconMedialab (http://www.iconmedialab.com), then I thought, 
"Maybe the IA list would have an opinion."

So--who would YOU recommend someone use, if they were redesigning a 
corporate intranet--mainly an info portal approach? Yes, I know there 
are a lot of IDs ("it depends"), but since I spent the last two years in 
Europe, I don't know who's doing what. Also, with the crash/implosion in 
the Internet consultancy sector, who's still a player? Are firms more 
responsive to clients who just want  a new design, or are they still 
trying to sell multimillion dollar megacontracts (these folks should be 
forced to watch Startup.com)?

Any advice would be great--even if it's self-serving.
