[Sigia-l] Thought I might elicit some responses

Blacksmith? That's excellent!!

You see, if I had my druthers, I would study ecology, community dynamics,
micro-economics, and sustainable living and architecure. I would live in an
earthship http://www.earthship.org/ , would teach and read books and garden.
But that's not a choice I have right now on the southside. I am becoming
more and more concerned with living than working, though I need a paycheck
BAD, and am trying to find a way to reach my goals.

I have a background in psych(so I am familiar with community dynamics
through comm psych), Landscape Architecure and Urban Planning can help with
the rest and being a sparky can provide some good solid skills to have for a
lifetime as well as a check.

My exposure to IA has brought me full circle from where I started out 10
years ago when cherry-picking through community college trying to figure out
how to achieve my goals (which were pretty much the same then). It has
opened up an entirely new way of thinking that has allowed me to view the
internet as more than a vast electronic encyclopedia. It has introduced me
to the driving forces behind business and econonomics, design, and given me
a perspective that I wouldn't have developed otherwise and is still inline
with my more artistic/literary interests.

Even if I never actually get a job as an IA, the theories, practices, and
insights from this field will always be a framework that informs and effects
my thinking.

Thanks for all the feedback!

Sean

Yes, definitely do it - the more skills you have, the more options you have
open to you.

Me, I'm an IA that's now working towards becoming a blacksmith. Who still
has an interest in going back to school for a degree in Cognitive Psych.
Hmmmmm...

Best of luck to you, Sean!
