UI Designer/Information Architect

JOB DESCRIPTION:    
PRIMARY FUNCTION: 
Create and maintain overall site and page
architecture, page logic, and user flows. Work with
business groups to translate business
requirements into user interfaces. Prototype
schematics and create ui technical documentation. Work
with development teams on design and informational flow of internal
administration sites.
Conduct usability testing, analyze results, and
present to various interdisciplinary groups.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct heuristic evaluations of current site
architecture relating to site hierarchy, flow, and
navigation. -Work with other ui designers to solve usability
issues with elegant, easy to implement designs.
- Provide usability guidance and support during
development process. - Collaborate on the integration of content and
technology, working with Programmers on architecture
and navigational flow of internal administration
sites for content management systems.
- Map project requirements into clear process flows
with the ability to propose new innovative solutions.
- Plan and conduct usability tests. Present results to
the business, creative, and technical teams.
- Improve existing user interfaces, incorporating
feedback and requirements gathered through user testing.
- Run customer experience meetings. Help educate
interdisciplinary groups and serve as a resource for
functionality best practices.
- Work with creative groups, business owners, outside
vendor groups to ensure that graphic design comps
meet usability standards
- Assist in slicing images from Photoshop files and
optimizing Web graphics according to site style guide

QUALIFICATIONS:    
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE: 
- 3-5 years hands-on experience as a ui designer for web site development.
- Solid understanding of information architecture, user interface design,
and usability testing
- Expert knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, ImageReady, Fireworks, Visio,
Powerpoint 
- Experience with database-backed web sites and/or content management
systems 
- Excellent design and visual composition skills with a strong understanding
of color and layout
- Familiarity with the limits and constraints of design for the Web and
across different browsers
- Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate design and
usability concepts to interdisciplinary departments
- Experience working with e-commerce sites a strong plus
- Experience with creating user flowcharts and rapid prototypes
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Understanding of Web technologies and the Web development process
- Flash or Kiosk experience a plus
- Strong oral, written communication skills
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment
