Boyd's post points out just how endemic this discussion is whenever the
topic gets anywhere near the notion of "design."

Dan Gillmor recently wrote about attending the New Paradigms In Using
Computers day.

In it, he quotes Rich Gold (http://www.richgold.org/) as saying:
"There are four hats of creation: Artist, scientist, designer and engineer.
Every profession has all four of those hats in it, but in different
proportions. Scientist sees true or false. Engineer sees good or bad.
Designer sees cool or uncool. Artist sees things as important or boring."

And says some interesting things from there....
