Heads up to all Chicago area folks about an upcoming lecture that looks
tempting. Dominican University is in River Forest, just north of Oak Park
and just west of Chicago. Public transit to the Dominican campus is not the
best, so it is best to hook up with someone who has a car.

I've never posted anything to this list before, but I do enjoy reading what
others have to share. I'll go back to my lurking now...

Technologies, USA

Anthropologist Bonnie Nardi has conducted ethnographic studies of 
villages in New Guinea and West Samoa but now focuses her 
research on the social aspects of human-computer interaction.  
Her work has led her to try to find "a middle ground between 
technophilia and technophobia."  Nardi is co-author of "Information 
Ecologies:  Using Technology with Heart."

The GSLIS Centennial Lecture is free and open to the public.
