Hi all,
I'm looking for information on roadmaps for different types of web
projects. As IA's, we have a wide variety of tools at our disposal, and I'm
looking for some way of deciding which tools to use for a certain project.
So far, I'm imagining this to look a bit like:
- merging several sites: use this and this and this approach. Special
challenges: these...
- intranet: use this and this and this approach. Special challenges: these...
And so on. But this approach is preliminary, I may find a better one.
So how do you decide how to approach a project? What types of projects have
you worked on, and what where the specific challenges?
Some ideas:
when I start a project, I first look at where the project is at so far:
what work has already been done, what type of project is it, what is
missing, what is the client like (one clever guy, big clueless committee,
...). Who will I be working with, and who else may I need on the project.
What are the client's expectations for the next steps. Should we take a
step back. How much educating of the client needs to be done. Then I listen
to the client: what are their problems, what are they trying to achieve, ...
Cheers,
PeterV
