[Sigia-l] IA Practice Maturation

I've been thinking the same thing as I've followed this thread. Much of the
really exciting user-oriented design that I've seen presented at various
conferences seems to have emanated from either England or Western Europe.

Which makes me wonder: is it possible that what we think of as IA and
user-centered principles have been well-integrated into the design process
in Europe and the UK? Is there some fundamental integration of design and
functionality within the design education process that makes it unnecessary
to have a separate identity for information architects?
