Perhaps this is one of those cases where the trivial example of foods 
doesn't map to the ultra-secret content taxonomy of The Client, but 
probably not.

First, perhaps your client knows something about their own content 
that you don't yet. If they consider Tomatos to be both Vegetable and 
Fruit, it's possible that thier customers do as well. Also, consider 
that a significant user group for this system will be internal client 
staff. If you want the client to use your system, it's important to 
consider their understanding of the content as well.

I'm not sure I see any arguments against your three questions. 
Indeed, "conventional" ideas about classificaction and taxonomy _do_ 
allow one item to be placed in multiple categories. And of course we 
interact with a world where pretty much everything goes happily into 
multiple categories.
