*Health Informatics (Assistant/Associate/Full Professors)*

The University of Michigan School of Information Tenure Track Positions
*Title: Health Informatics (Assistant/Associate/Full Professors)*

The School of Information at the University of Michigan (UMSI) seeks a
tenure-track professor at the assistant, associate or full professor level
in the field of health informatics, with a focus on either 1) the design
and evaluation of novel sociotechnical applications in the health domain
and/or 2) analysis of health-related data. UMSI seeks applicants who can
contribute to the research, teaching, and service missions of the school
and the university.

For candidates with a background in design and evaluation of healthcare
applications, we are particularly interested in research and teaching
experience in the design, building, and testing of interactive, clinical or
consumer/patient-facing health informatics applications and systems, such
as mobile applications, online environments, decision support systems, or
other kinds of devices or software. Such a candidate will be well-versed in
modern design practices and tools, new forms of interaction, evaluation,
and/or designing for health-related application domains. Candidates with
quantitative, qualitative, technical, and/or design perspectives are of
interest. Furthermore, candidates with expertise in relevant application
areas such as health behavior, implementation science, decision making, and
patient-centered health care are of particular interest.

For candidates with a background in analysis of health-related data, we are
particularly interested in research and teaching experience on the
collection, processing, analysis and presentation of data to aid in
decision-making of consumers, clinicians, insurers, and public health
officials. Areas of expertise include but are not limited to medical
ontologies, natural language or text processing of medical records, data
quality, data mining, machine learning, predictive modeling, or exploratory
data analysis and information visualization.

The successful candidate engages in research interests that complement our
existing health informatics expertise in such areas as computer-supported
cooperative work; incentive-centered design; information seeking, sharing
and use; community informatics; Internet-scale data, network and text
analysis; social computing; and healthcare organizations. We are especially
interested in qualified applicants whose research addresses important
social problems, opportunities, and questions associated within health
informatics.

The mission of the School of Information is to create and share knowledge
to help people use information -- with technology -- to build a better
world. A successful candidate will be committed to, and will directly
contribute to our goal of being the best research and teaching institution
for the understanding and design of information and its technologies in
service of people and society.

The School is home to vibrant research and teaching programs, with 59 core
faculty, and nearly 850 students. We offer four degrees: a Ph.D., a Master
of Science in Information, a Master of Health Informatics, and a Bachelor
of Science in Information.

Founded in 1817, the University of Michigan has a long and distinguished

more than $1 billion in research expenditures annually, the University has
the second largest research expenditure among all universities in the
nation. The University has an annual general fund budget of more than $1.8
billion and an endowment valued at more than $9.7 billion.
