Program Manager, Biomedical Sciences and Technologies
Center for Contemporary History and Policy (CCHP)

The Chemical Heritage Foundation has an opening for a program manager
in its Center for Contemporary History and Policy. Located in
Philadelphia's historic district, the Chemical Heritage Foundation
seeks to preserve, analyze, and make known the history of the chemical
and molecular sciences and affiliated industries. The Center for
Contemporary History and Policy organizes conferences, carries out
research projects, and publishes reports that bring long-range
analysis to bear on contemporary issues in science, technology,
innovation, and policy. CCHP is a fast-moving and highly relevant
working group that employs cross-functional teamwork to produce timely
results.


Responsibilities:
The program manager will play an active role in program management and
new project development centered on the recent history of the
biomedical sciences and technologies. She/He will manage this program
area, including conducting and processing oral histories, research and
publishing, budgeting, cross-function communication, and external
communication. He/She will develop projects examining the recent
history of biomedicine and its policy implications (including
prosopographic research, conferences, and publications); work with the
CCHP director to identify new opportunities and implement new
projects; and represent CCHP at meetings, events, and conferences.
The position may have one or more reportables.


Background:
Advanced degree in a relevant social science or scientific
discipline.
Superior research skills, including qualitative data analysis, oral
history, and archival research.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects of varying scope and size and
ability to carry out self-motivated and self-supervised work.
Superior writing and communication skills as evidenced by successful
presentations and publications.
High scientific and technical literacy and aptitude.
Eager to work in fast-paced environment - adaptable and flexible.
