[Sigdl-l] SIG Library Technologies (SIG LT) Business Meeting Announcement

*ANNOUNCEMENT: SIG LIBRARY TECHNOLOGIES MEETING TIME AND AGENDA*

SIG Library Technologies invites you to attend their annual business meeting
at ASIS&T 2011.  This year we are fortunate enough to be scheduled for the
time slot right after SIG Digital Libraries and in the same room!  For those
of you who are history buffs, SIG LT and SIG DL have collaborated together
in the past for various Annual Meeting events and other endeavors.  Thus, we
would like to encourage everyone to attend both meetings if possible.  The
specific logistics and agenda are as follows.

*Meeting: Monday, October 10, 12:30-1:30 pm, Room B*

* Halloween treats will be offered *

Agenda:

SIG LT is currently going through a reinstatement process.  As such, we have
the following items to discuss.
1. *Decide if SIG LT wants to restore its formal status and thus have
funding to activities*


2a.* If there is a decision for SIG LT to become a formal SIG*, we then need
to:
           a.  Coming up with an updated SIG name, acronym, and scope note.
           b.  Vote for officers (at the very least a Chair)
c.  Discuss how the officers and general membership population will meet the
rest of the reinstatement procedures.


2b. * If there is a decision NOT to pursue formal status*, we then need to
decide how to proceed as a virtual SIG:
a.     For example, there's a website and a wiki space that belong to SIG
LT.  How would it best be utilized?


SIG LT plans to have someone present at the Leadership Development event on
Monday night.  Please do consider nominating yourself as an officer or
bringing ideas to the meeting.  If you have any questions or wish to
nominate yourself as an officer candidate, you can e-mail

About SIG LT: In this past, SIG LT has focused on the analysis, planning,
management and use of innovative technology in library operations and
networking.  This leads for a broad spectrum of interests and great
potential for collaborations.  For 2011, SIG LT will be reviewing its
purpose and mission.

About SIG DL: SIG DL provides a forum for discussion about research,
development and use of digital libraries in corporate, academic and public
contexts. It is concerned with all aspects of digital library design and
implementation as well as international, interdisciplinary and
inter-societal collaboration focusing on digital libraries and related
issues.
