ASIS&T 2006 – SIG-CR call for symposia and panels

Happy New Year!

Now is the time to organize symposia and panels for the
upcoming annual meeting. 

The theme for the conference is "Information Realities:
Shaping the Digital Future for All." Suggested topics for the
2006 Annual Meeting (November 3-9) in Austin include but are
not limited to the following:

-New theoretical perspectives on information use and management
-Ethical and legal implications of digital worlds
-The nature of the information profession in the digital future
-User, organizational and cultural analyses of information
realities
-Future information architectures to both build and harness
information realities
-Implications for information (seeking) behavior and retrieval
-New forms of human-computer/information interactions.
-Distributed collaboration and information sharing
-Enhanced access to multi-format and multimedia information
-Learning and education in the digital future
-Digital storytelling and presentation
-Conflicts in information realities, their recognition and
resolution
-Preserving our cultural records in a digital age
-Scientific underpinnings of new information designs and uses

If you would like SIG/CR to sponsor your submission, please
send me a draft of your proposal by January 30th - prior to
submitting. Reviewers tend to look favorably on proposals that
have multiple SIG sponsors...

Final Deadline for submission is February 13, 2006.  
April 28, 2006 Acceptance notices issued
May 27, 2006 Final versions due for conference proceedings

Submission guidelines for symposia and panels: 

Symposia and panels present topics for discussion such as
cutting-edge research and design, analyses of hot or emerging
trends, opinions on controversial issues, reports by
practitioners on current information science and technology
projects, and contrasting viewpoints from experts in
complementary professional areas. 

Submissions should be in the form of a short paper
(approximately five pages, no smaller than 10-pt. font).
Submissions must also include title, sponsor(s), and names and
affiliations of all panel members 

The submission must include two distinct parts: 

1) Scope: providing a clear rationale for the panel, an
overview of potential issues to be discussed, and
justifications for selecting the proposed panel members and 

2) Panel member contributions: a single page from each member
(to be included in the 5 page count) describing what the
member plans to discuss and a list of questions the member
will raise for other panel and audience members to react to. 

It is assumed that a panel will have about three to four members. 

All submissions are made electronically via a link from the
ASIS&T Web site
(http://www.asis.org/Conferences/AM06/AM06submit.html).
Details on acceptable file formats, citation style, and
specific contact information required in the online submission
form are on the Web page. The final versions of these
submissions will be published in the digital conference
proceedings. Additional materials, e.g., PowerPoint slides or
short papers by individual presenters, will be published in
the digital conference proceedings at the author’s request.
