Also work by Corinne Jorgensen (now at Florida State) and possibly Abby
Goodrum (now at Syracuse), though she has been more interested in
streaming video, I think. I also think that one of Edie's doctoral
students did some image indexing work -- you could probably find it by
searching JASIST title pages.

There has been work along these lines in indexing images and moving
images. I don't have the citations to hand, but have a look at the
chapter on image indexing by Edie Rasmussen in the Annual Review of
Information Science and Technology. Also see work by James Turner (now at
the Universite de Montreal), and by Sara Shatford, aka Sara Shatford
Layne.

Subject: [Sigcr-l] Similar studies?

Hello,

First let me introduce myself. I'm a student of informationscience and a
new subscriber to the SIGcr list. Actually I'm waiting for approval from
the list administrator.

I'm currently working on a study of a collection of photos in a specific
context, which will end in a controlled vocabulary that can be used to
index the photos. My plan is to use a qualitative method such as
photo-elicitation to interview individuals in the specific context about
their descriptions, reactions, associations etc. to a set of typical
photos. I believe that this can provide buildingmaterial for designing a
controlled vocabulary.

Scince I am in the beginning of the study im currently trying to collect
background material and find out what has been done before. Therefor I
wonder if anyone know of similar studies that have been conducted. I will
be very greatful for any hints, suggestions, questions or directions to
resources, articles etc.

Best regards
