Hi all -
I have created a signup section of our wiki pages for you to pick times
to meet with your SIGs at the ASIS&T Annual Meeting:
http://www.asis.org/wiki/chapters-sigs/index.php/SIG_Cabinet. If you
are comfortable with editing wikis (or want to learn a new skill),
please feel free to enter in the time that you'd like to meet, and in
which room (because there may be overlaps). If you would rather I do it
for you, just send me an email with your top three options. I have
deliberately not put in timeslots, since I know you all like to have
different amounts of time depending on how much you have to talk about!
I also know that some of you combine your planning meeting with your
Dutch-Treat Dinner. That's great - just please go ahead and post it to
the wiki so the rest of us know (and can come, if we want!).
These planning meetings fill several roles:
1: They allow you to meet and greet new and returning members of the
SIG, and hopefully enlist their help in your programs.
2: They give you time to think about what the SIG would like to do in
the next year, including possible technical sessions you might propose
for AM09.
3: Many SIGs use this time to elect officers.
4: I like to drop into your meetings to introduce myself and welcome
members on behalf of the SIG Cabinet and the Board of Directors.
Upon seeing your financial statements, I can attest that many of you
have enough money that you can spend it on small things that would boost
attendance at your planning meeting (and thus, with membership,
activity, etc.). I'm thinking pizza! Because of our contract with the
hotel, I cannot order pizza for each of you and pay it out of general
funds - but you can order it yourselves and be reimbursed from your SIG
funds. Just don't spend more than $200, and I won't have to approve the
purchase in advance. This is a strong hint, but not a requirement. I
just get hungry! :)
Please
