DIGITAL PRESERVATION MANAGER
The National Library of New Zealand has a vacancy for a Digital Preservation Manager to lead its digital preservation programme.
The Digital Preservation Manager is responsible for the operational management of the Library’s digital preservation programme and is responsible for a team of 5 staff within the Preservation Research & Consultancy business unit in the National Library.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
· championing digital preservation issues in the Department as well as nationally and internationally.
· contributing to the development of the strategic direction of the National Library with particular emphasis on the Library’s collection building, preservation and access roles.
· working closely with digital preservation teams in the National Library and Archives New Zealand, and with related teams within the department and vendors responsible for infrastructure, storage and systems.
Substantial practical experience with digital preservation (particularly related to digital collections in libraries, museums, archives or special collections) is essential. Ideally the successful candidate will have a tertiary qualification in information technology, computer science or information science or its equivalent and be an experienced people manager.
