Greetings colleagues!

I'm pleased to forward this message about the newest version of the
Simmons College ASIST chapter career event. I was a "geek" last year and
it was loads of fun. I encourage you to participate.

Cheers,
Caryn

Hello, NEASIS&T members!

The Simmons chapter needs your help for our career event this spring!
Are you willing to chat with Simmons GSLIS students and share your
experiences in the field? Then read on!

We're sticking with last year's fun, non-traditional format -- Speed
Geeking! It's speed dating mashed up with a career panel. In speed
geeking, small groups of students meet with one professional librarian
(aka geek) at a time in hopes of gaining insight into what it's like
to work in our field. Some photos might help you visualize this:

Last year, five awesome geeks participated, including a couple of
names you might recognize: Caryn Anderson and Ken Varnum. This year,
we're looking for 5 - 6 geeks. We already have two signed up, again
more names you might recognize: Beatrice Pulliam and Michael Leach.

Don't pass us up if you don't think you're geeky enough -- members of
the student chapter are interested in all sorts of niches within the
field, from systems to reference. We're hoping that our geeks will
represent a variety of pursuits.

The 2007 edition of Speed Geeking will take place on Tuesday, May 1,
starting at 6pm on the Simmons College campus. If you're willing and
able to participate, please contact me directly:
alison.cody at simmons.edu. I'm happy to answer questions or provide more
detail on the format if you have questions.

Thank you!
Yours,

Alison Cody
