Greetings colleagues,
We are thrilled to announce a collaborative event between NEASIS&T and
the Simmons College chapter of ASIS&T. The Simmons chapter is very
active this year (see their new website:
http://web.simmons.edu/~asist/), with quite a few dynamic members
definitely some real leaders coming up.
Theyve created a unique networking event that we think will be of
interest to both students and professionals alike. It will be a great
opportunity to mingle with the next generation of information
specialists, possibly identify interns or future hires, and also to
network with your own colleagues and learn more about the diversity
of information environments out there.
We encourage all members to participate. Contact the Simmons chapter
directly at asist at simmons.edu to register. See you there!

Hello NEASIS&T members -
The Simmons chapter of ASIS&T is planning a non-traditional
ASIS&T at Simmons Career Event. We'd like to invite you to participate
-- it will take place on Monday, April 24 at 6:30pm here at Simmons.
As for the format, we're running with a suggestion from NEASIS&T
Program Committee member Nicole Hennig of MIT rather than doing a
traditional panel event, we'll be Speed Geeking! (origins:
http://facilitation.aspirationtech.org/index.php/Facilitation:SpeedGeeking)
Here's how it'll work: we'll break the students up into small groups;
each group will meet with each "geek" (aka panelist) for about 10
minutes. For each group, the geeks will briefly introduce themselves
and give a quick explanation of their job -- the rest of the
interaction would be based on questions from the students; the groups
will rotate every 10 minutes. After the speed geeking, we'll have
some time to mingle and network, and of course we'll have some light
refreshments to stave off the hunger pangs.
We'd like to have as many professional ASIS&T "info-geeks" take part
in this event as possible. If you're interested and available, please
contact us at asist at simmons.edu to register. (Just to reiterate:
Monday, 4/24 at 6:30 on the Simmons campus.)
Thanks for your time!
Yours,
Alison Cody, Vice Chair
Jennifer Lege, Chair
