Designing a Web Site for Freelance Indexing Services
All freelance indexers should have their own web sites. Topics will include:
what information to have or not have on your web site, the organization of
the pages, how to put sample indexes on your web site, use of graphics, text
style, and web hosting and domain name registering. The presentation will
also address options of contracting a design service, creating a site with a
template, or doing it yourself from scratch, including discussion of
software and training options.
Presented by Heather Hedden, president of the New England Chapter of the
American Society of Indexers for 2006 and also leads the national Web
Indexing Special Interest Group. Through her business, Hedden Information
Management, www.hedden-information.com, she is a freelance book, database,
and web site indexer, and also does some web site design services. She
teaches web site indexing independently and through Simmons College Graduate
School of Library and Information Science Continuing Education.

Massachusetts chapter. He is a freelancer indexer and indexing consultant
