Google Book Search and the End of Obscurity: the digitization of library 
collections and what it means for readers, scholars, and libraries

Jack Bernard, Assistant General Counsel at the University of Michigan, 
will speak about his work on the Google Book Search project.  He is the 
University of Michigan’s lead copyright lawyer and has been involved in 
Michigan’s participation in the Google Book Search project since its 
inception.  Jack will be joined by Wendy Pradt Lougee, University 
Librarian, University of Minnesota–Twin Cities.  Wendy will discuss the 
Google Book Project and the Hathi Trust for digitized works.

The Google Book project already has demonstrated the potential for 
dramatically changing access to scholarly works. Whether you are in 
favor or opposed to the Google Book Settlement, please come hear about 
the project from the perspective of individuals who have been closely 
involved.

2010" events sponsored by the DeWitt Wallace Library, Macalester 
College, St. Paul, Minnesota.
