[Chapters-l] Important changes for regional and student chapters of ASIS&T

Congratulations, everyone! We just made a small victory towards making
student and regional chapters more on par.

At its recently held summer meeting, the Board voted and approved these 4
motions:

   1. Renaming ‘Chapter’ to ‘Regional Chapter’ (leaving Chapter as an
   umbrella term to include both regional and student chapters)
   2. Bringing forward the deadline of the ‘Regional’ Chapter of the Year
   award to August 1 (so that there is 2 weeks for regional chapters to
   apply for the other 4 chapter awards http://www.asis.org/awards.html).
   This would apply starting next year. For this year, regional chapters can
   file their reports by the August 15 deadline.
   3. Allowing student chapters to also apply for the 4 Chapter awards on
   Chapter Member/Event/Publication/Innovation of the Year (note the Aug 15
   deadline for these)
   4. Allowing student chapters to also apply for the Chapter Development
   Fund

The Board earlier also approved a new simplified template for the annual
activities report for regional chapters. I'm attaching it in this email. If
you are in charge of a regional chapter, do please use it for filing this
year's report.
