"Cyber Threats & Information Warfare - What You Should Know," by Donavan
Lewis, Defense Intelligence Agency, at the Eighteenth Annual Fall Joint
Meeting of the Miami Valley Computing Societies being held Thursday,
September 21, 2006 at 5:30PM in the David H. Ponitz Center, Sinclair
Community College in Dayton, OH.

As the world increasingly becomes the "Flat World" the US dominance in
Information Technology is decreasing while countries such as China and
India are increasing their roles. This opens the vulnerability and
threat to the US defense and commercial systems.

This presentation will provide an overview of security concerns and
trends related to the globalization of Information Technology (IT)
development. As IT components are increasingly developed around the
globe, what are the implications for information warfare against
U.S./Department of Defense (DoD) computer networks based on subversive
functionality built into IT components? Foreign-built IT components are
already entering DoD computer systems and the trend is rapidly
accelerating. What are the implications for the acquisition community?

Donavan Lewis is the Chief of the Threat Analysis Division (CCO-5) and
supervises Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) intelligence production.
And supports Information Operations (IO) threat areas, primarily cyber
threats, to DoD networks and foreign strategic communication threats.
His primary focus of support is to OSD, CJCS, the Services and Agencies.
Mr. Lewis spent 20 years on active duty in the U.S. Army, Signal Corps,
and has a total of 24 years at the DIA.

Mr. Lewis received a BS in Electronics from Hampton University, an MS in
Telecommunications from Colorado University, and an MS in National
