Are you responsible for digital information? Does this work require contracting or partnering with third parties? Then we've got an event for you. Come to "Information Stewardship in Public-Private
Partnerships: Managing Vendor Agreements for Information Services."
Hear about and share strategies for forming public-private partnerships, contracts and vendor agreements.

The University of North Carolina School of Information and Library Science and School of Government invite you to attend the public symposium held on April 19, 2013 from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Topics for the day include models and arrangements for sustainability in information management and provision, data management and governance projects with private partners, and managerial and legal contexts of information service contracts.

The symposium will be held at the Center for School Leadership Development, room 135AB (dining room area), located in the Friday Center complex. The registration fee is $75 ($35 for students). This charge covers attendance of expert speakers, continental breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Please register using the following link:

Public officials, archivists, records managers, librarians, and other information professionals are increasingly entering into partnerships with private entities to accomplish their public missions related to information management. These arrangements involve many nuances that the responsible professionals have not previously encountered; yet, their responsibilities to ensure public information is accessible and meaningful over time have remained the same.

The following experts will share their knowledge of and experience with this topic in a series of presentations and panel sessions:

- Kelly Eubank, Head of Electronic Records Branch, North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, Division of Archives and Records

- Lisa Gregory, Digital Collections Manager, North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, State Library of North Carolina

- Duncan Friend, Director of Enterprise Technology Initiatives, Kansas Office of Information Technology Services

- Leslie Johnston, Acting Director of the National Digital Information Infrastructure & Preservation Program (NDIIPP), Library of Congress

- Paul Jones, Director of ibiblio.org and Clinical Professor, Schools of Journalism and Information and Library Science, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill

- Christopher (Cal) Lee, Associate Professor, School of Information and Library Science, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill

- Becky McGee-Lankford, Assistant State Records Administrator, North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, Division of Archives and Records

- Honorable Wayne Rash, Register of Deeds, Caldwell County

- Katherine Skinner, Executive Director, Educopia Institute

- Ozie Stallworth, Electronic Notarization and Notary Enforcement Director, North Carolina Department of Secretary of State

- Charles Szypszak, Professor of Public Law and Government, School of Government, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill

- Helen Tibbo, Alumni Distinguished Professor, School of Information and Library Science, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill

The symposium is brought to you by "Educating Stewards of Public Information Infrastructure (ESOPI2)," funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
