FACULTY POSITION. CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA Health Information Technology: Clinical Assistant Professor with possibility for tenure-track appointment 

The School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) of The Catholic University of America invites applications for a clinical assistant professor position that will begin in fall 2012. We seek an energetic individual with expertise in health information technology, management of information systems in healthcare, medical informatics, health informatics nursing informatics or public health informatics to support the school's Master of Science in Information Technology program that concentrates on Health Information Technology (MSIT-HIT). 
An M.D. or an earned doctoral degree in management of information systems, public health, nursing, library and information science, or a closely related field is highly desirable. Applicants with a master's degree in management of information systems in health care or a closely related field with substantial professional experience will be considered. Applicants must have substantial professional experience in managing health resources and operations with information systems, familiar with healthcare services, and knowledgeable about trends in health information technology. Applicants must have demonstrated teaching ability and the ability to teach in blended format. Grant experience is helpful. An ability to teach one or more of the LIS core courses (http://slis.cua.edu/courses/courses.cfm) is helpful.

The finalist will be responsible for teaching courses in the MSIT-HIT program, coordinating students' capstone experiences, advising students, and developing and maintaining close relationships with practitioners and educators in the field. The school offers courses in Washington, DC and Virginia. The teaching load is six courses per academic year and can be reduced by assuming substantial administrative responsibilities. Summer teaching is optional.
