[Asis-l] Winners of the 2011 ASIS&T SIG III International Paper Contest

The American Society for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T) Special
Interest Group on International Information Issues (SIG III) is pleased to
announce the following winners of its 12th International Paper Contest:

*First Place Winner:*
Eustache Mêgnigbêto. Structure of the Reachability Social Network of
Beninese Library and Information Professionals. (Republic of Benin)

*Second Place Winner:*
Muzammil Tahira. What Next? New Databases, Metrics, Services or New
Epistemology for Research Evaluation. (Pakistan)

*Third Place Winner:*
Swati Bhattacharyya. Exploring the Notion of Contextual Use: A Case Study of
the Use of Electronic Resources in an Indian Research Organization. (India)


The jurors for the 2011 competition included Maqsood Shaheen (Chair), Alma
Rivera (Co-Chair), Faith Oguz (Co-Chair) and members of the SIG III Board.

The principal authors of each of the three winning papers will be awarded a
two-year individual membership to ASIS&T. In addition, the first place
winner will be awarded a minimum of $1,500 to attend the ASIS&T Annual
Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, October 9-11, 2011.

Those winning papers and other submitted papers for the competition will be
considered for publication by Elsevier’s *International **Information and
Library Review*.

We thank the jury members for their hard work and our donors for their
compassion which makes it possible to develop and sustain this international
 network of scholars in developing countries.
