Georgia Tech CLIR Postdoctoral Fellow


CLIR is accepting applications for the 2007 Postdoctoral Fellowship in
Scholarly Information Resources for Humanists. Now in its fourth year, the
fellowship provides new scholars in the humanities an opportunity to develop
expertise in emerging forms of scholarly research and the information
resources that support them. The program seeks applicants who believe that
there are opportunities to develop meaningful linkages between disciplinary
scholarship, libraries, archives, and evolving digital tools.

This two year fellowship will focus on educating the faculty regarding
scholarly communications issues and library support for scholarly publishing
and self-archiving of scholarly works in the digital realm. It will entail
conducting an in depth scan of the Georgia Tech environment through surveys
and interviews to aid in developing an ongoing program of education and
support surrounding scholarly communications.

Responsibilities: Develop and implement a program to educate and support the
scholarly communications of the Georgia Tech community. Educational and
outreach efforts will include providing information on the serials crisis,
Open Access models, and other means of alternative publishing, focusing
especially on the Library's SMARTech

epage at Tech <http://epage.gatech.edu/>. <http://epage.gatech.edu/> Support
activities will include advising Georgia Tech's faculty and students
regarding digital management and dissemination of their scholarly output and
related copyright/IP issues, and complete IP-related research on their
behalf. Work with the Library's Digital Initiatives, Collection Development,
and Information Services departments to examine how the Library can assist
the Georgia Tech units creating intellectual output with their scholarly
communications workflows. The results of a Georgia Tech team attending the
ACRL/ARL Scholarly Communication Institute in late 2006 will serve as a
basis for this program and the fellow will work closely with that team. The
fellow will conduct interviews, surveys, and focus groups of faculty, staff,
researchers, and students to determine how the Library can support their
scholarly communications endeavors. Possible projects include mailings,
surveys, workshops, brown bags, and other events.
