THE PROGRAM:
Ready! Set! Go! Quick but complete Disaster planning...
If you don't have a disaster plan and you know you need one then this
evening's event is for you. Ms. Drewes will provide a fill in the blank
disaster manual for recovery of library materials, both print and
electronic. All you need is to fill in the blanks to this
electronically available manual to help prepare you for the worst and
let you do your best. Experience has proven that those with written
disaster plans have more successful recovery of materials affected by a
disaster. With a minimum of additional work you can have that plan. So
plan to attend!
Jeanne M. Drewes is Chief of Binding and Collections Care at the Library
of Congress. Formerly she was Assistant Director for Access and
Preservation at Michigan State University Libraries and head of the
preservation department at Johns Hopkins University, Milton S.
Eisenhower Library. She received her M.A.L.S. from the University of
Missouri-Columbia and was a Mellon Intern for Preservation
Administration at the University of Michigan. She is an active member
of ALA, AIC, and the Guild of Bookworkers and has taught workshops and
published on the topic of insurance and risk management, disaster
planning, education and outreach, as well as other areas of
preservation. One of her more recent publications is Risk and Insurance
Management Manual for Libraries published by ALA/LAMA in 2005.
There will be opportunity for Q&A with the speaker after the
presentation.
